Huub Ragas
Art intermezzo
Art is a way for us to communicate. It can help us understand other people who are completely different from us and help us express the things that live in our hearts. So, it helps communication between people. It can inspire and give strength to overcome difficulties and hardships. It can be a source of inspiration and hope and can act as an important guide to help find the direction of Peace, for all human beings.
Why? Because it has the ability to connect the hearts of people, no matter how different they are. This is true for all different groups of people in society.
Introduction
Huub Ragas was born in the Netherlands, in Eindhoven, where he spent the first 25 years of his life. In 1987 he moved to Tilburg, where he now lives and works.
Between 1986 and 1992 he studied at the Art School in Tilburg, specialising in two dimensional arts: drawing, painting, photography and graphics.
Between graduation and 2000 he devoted himself to photography but has returned to painting since then. The works shown on this website are dated between 2000 and now.
About nature
Nature is an important source of inspiration for the works of Huub Ragas. It seems as if we nowadays live far from our roots with nature. Contacting nature, contacting our nature, is important for all of us. In the end we are incomplete without this contact: we are only a fragment of our true selves. Being close to nature means being close to our true selves and in doing so we can find new powers within ourselves. Nature can be an endless source of rejuvenation and inspiration
About cities
The way we build our cities is a reflection of the state of mind of humanity. The way we create our environment and houses reflects the way we think. The age we live in is reflected in the way houses are build and the urban environment is formed. In his work Huub Ragas is looking for answers to the question of what our cities and environment should and could look like. Beneath this question lies another question: how can we best find a balance between comforts of living and at the same time sustaining the natural environment? Is it possible?
In 1991 Huub Ragas met Buddhism: 'Soon it started to change my life and it took a new direction. Endless strength and inspiration is available in our own lives, you just sometimes need a key to open it. For him it was meeting -Nam Myo Ho Ren Ge Kyo-'. Want to know know more about Buddhism?
