Nathan Strausse
Nathan Strausse is an emerging talent within the erotic art world. His vision combines an innovative use of light, a unique approach of environment and most importantly, his connection with his muses. His imagery celebrates the beauty of form, situation and emotion. His catalog of work crosses numerous boundaries and intersects a multitude of genres. The intent of his work is not just limited to stimulating ones’ mind, but to transcend ones’ desires and emotion and allow one's self to become in the moment.
Nathan spent the first portion of his childhood in the suburbs of New Jersey. As a child, he was always driven, smart, full of energy and extremely imaginative. Some years later, his family headed west. It was in Phoenix, Arizona that the first seeds for his creations would be planted. As a teenager growing up within “urban sprawl”, Nathan intermingled with all walks of life. From pool skating punk rockers to nitrous injected street racers: fast talking dealers and much to do party goers, Nathan’s melting pot of friends exposed him to diverse attitudes towards life. Always one with a camera, Nathan’s technique illustrates his understanding of mood and reverence for his ‘muse’.
As his passion for creativity grew, he expanded his canvas. His interests morphed into writings, music and, of course, motion picture. While living in San Francisco, Nathan’s exposure to such vast differing cultures furthered his desire to capture uniqueness, randomness and diversity. Relocating to the film making Mecca: Los Angeles, Nathan thrust himself into the mainstream of the filmmaking arena. Relishing the chance to work under the guide of established Directors and Cinematographers, Nathan built up his film repertoire of directing, lighting and story. As he continued along this path, Nathan began working with the renowned erotic artist Andrew Blake. Strausse took all of these experiences and nuances to form his own unique elements of fetish, pin-up and erotic styles.
Nathan’s portfolio reflects a vast array of mixed media and form. From gallery and art installations to still photography and video pieces: the conception to the capturing, the editing and the music, Nathan Strausse’s work has a unique mystique about it. Each model has their own personality, their own form. So each shoot is always different. Nathan presents what lies beneath and beyond his subjects. He strives for them to embrace themselves, their entity.
